Beautiful Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia

Smith Mountain Lake is nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia. Created in the early 1960's by damming the Roanoke River for hydroelectric power, it has become a wonderful place to live, work, vacation, fish, golf, boat, play and enjoy the natural beauty of the entire area. The lake is 20,000 acres of clear water, 40 miles long with 550 miles of shoreline. It ranges in depth from very shallow to more than 250 feet deep near the dam. The water level fluctuates very little - usually less than a foot per day year round.
